Back before I knew much about mini RC helicopters, I always thought I was going to have to spend at least $100 to get my hands on one.
I couldn’t have been more wrong. Of course, you can spend $100 or more quite easily if you want to. But if you are just going to be dabbling into the hobby a little bit, you will be able to get into the hobby quite a bit cheaper than that.
Here’s the thing – certain online retailers practically give these things away, one being Amazon (check out the mini RC helicopters).
I found a SYMA S107 for under $30!
Just to give a quick price comparison:
I was walking through the mall the other day and saw a kiosk where a guy was selling all types of small RC helicopters. He had the SYMA S107 sitting there, a few of them stacked up.
I asked “how much are you selling these for?”
“79 bucks” was his answer.
Hmm, I can get one of those for almost $40 less on Amazon. Pretty crazy. I’ve also seen them retailed for more than that at other stores.
I’m not sure why they can be had for so much cheaper from the online outlets, but wow that is a pretty big price difference between online/offline ordering. Many products that I’m interested in buying don’t have such a big price difference in online vs offline buying.
Of course, you’ll have to wait a few days from the time you order from the time you can take your first flight, but that is ok, it’s worth the patience.
